Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper to take ownership of core financial processes for multiple clients in Australia’s robust building and trades sector. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with Australian regulations, and providing essential reporting that helps business owners make informed decisions. Working primarily with Xero accounting software, you’ll handle everything from daily transaction processing to monthly reporting, while collaborating with a supportive team that includes qualified accountants and virtual assistants. This role offers the perfect balance of independence and teamwork, allowing you to leverage your Australian accounting expertise while contributing to the success of growing businesses across the construction and trades industries.


Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate bank reconciliations and transaction processing for multiple client accounts
  • Manage comprehensive payroll processing and payroll reconciliation services
  • Handle superannuation obligations and ensure timely submissions
  • Assist with Business Activity Statement (BAS) submissions in compliance with Australian regulations
  • Prepare detailed monthly financial reports and client communications
  • Execute project cost tracking and allocation to ensure accurate project profitability analysis
  • Generate comprehensive project cost reports for client review and decision-making
  • Maintain client records primarily in Xero with occasional MYOB system usage
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless client service delivery

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience with Australian accounting practices, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Advanced proficiency in Xero accounting software with hands-on experience
  • Familiarity with MYOB accounting software (highly preferred)
  • Solid understanding of Australian payroll systems, superannuation requirements, and BAS processes
  • Previous experience working with building, construction, or trades industry clients (preferred)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial record management
  • Strong independent work capabilities while maintaining effective team collaboration
  • Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team coordination
